This Week’s Beer Calendar

Posted by: on Feb 28, 2011 | No Comments

Last week we had a chance to sample some of Vermont’s best and brightest new brewery’s at the annual Blind Tiger Vermont Beer & Cheese Festival. Rare kegs from Lawson’s Finest, The Alchemist, Hill Farmstead and more were kicked faster than it take to drive up to the Green Mountain state. New York’s Homebrew Community was also out in full force for the bi-annual Brooklyn Work competition where my Hibiscus Belgian Ale took second place (yay me!)

Keg’s of the coveted Pliny the Younger begin to surface this week in Pennsylvania (not for sale in New York State) so those of you with flexible schedules should keep an eye out and take a road trip. There are also great taps being poured by Cigar City, Founders, and Harpoon locally so drinking locally is a great option as well. This week wraps up with with Mug Ale House’s annual Split Thy Brooklyn Skull strong ale festival. Over forty kegs of strong beer will be tapped over the weekend with lots of rare and obscure beers from around the world. It’s the perfect beer geek brunch and an event that I rarely miss.

Check out this week’s full calendar below and cheers to another great week of beer in New York City.
